I've had no problems whatsoever with Airtites. I use them for everything. Every now and then a coin doesn't fit exactly right, but I've never seen...
I've been having decent luck at apmex.com with bullion... but I can only speak to bullion (Maple Leaves, Eagles, Krugerrands, etc.).
I put nearly everything worth more than $20.00 in airtites.
I tend to buy bullion low so I haven't seen great losses yet on gold... I'm very glad I didn't buy loads of platinum (or any, for that matter)....

A bunch of circulated-to-near-total-flatness nickels from 1900 - 1930s. And they are FLAT, I tell you. Smooth as glass. Sheen as marble....
