There have been lots and lots of threads with tips for coin pics. Just do a search for key words like picture, camera, pics etc.
It might take more than a quick bath, you might need to soak them a bit and then rinse them in clean acetone and then rinse them in distilled...

Sure looks like a wrong planchet error to me, as for the surface I'd say it was found in the ground - corrosion.

I don't think it's hub doubling, that would be a true doubled die. I think it's mechanical doubling, which I agree has no value.
I'm not really sure what it is you are calling strike doubling, do you mean the coin was struck twice or do you mean the term in the more modern...
