About 5 years ago coins were basically worth the same as they were 15 years ago. So it was probably a fair offer at the time.
Rotated strikes of less than 15 degrees are considered not really worth notice. Rule of thumb is 35 degrees or more before they are worth anything.
It easy could be fake, but it also could be made of genuine gold and still be fake. Yes weighing and measuring the coin are steps to figuring it...
Well, it was struck in .8960 silver, weight 3.3834gm, ASW .0975 oz., assayer mark is FM. Value is about $15 - $20.

Your best bet would be the Krause catalog. Value for this type of coin is bascially based on bullion content.
