I think it's a broad strike but need the weight to know. As to your question, look how wide the rim is. A quarter is only 3mm wider than a nickel.
No need to do that. Just take it a jewelry store and ask them to weigh it for you - to within the closest 1/100 gram, as in x.xx grams and report...
I'd say VF25, old cleaning and re-toned.
Sorry, not unc. Both appear to be AU.

Ask all the questions you want Keith, we actually like answering them ;) There's one more thing we need to know though to answer this question...
There's a bit more to it than that. The '21-S (coin in your link) is known to be weakly struck. The '38-D is not. There's a whole list of these...
What is the weight of the coin ? If it is the same as a quarter then it would be a wrong planchet error. If it is the same as a nickel then it is...

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you are trying to remove PVC from the coin to prevent further damage - then yes go ahead and do so....
True, but only a few states were sovereign nations, at one time or another, before becoming states.
Toad - the original statement was - Nobody but you ever said a word about what they were at the exact time they became a state - merely that...
No Toad, Utah did not become a territory in 1848. That's merely when the US acquired title to the land. Either way, you need to read a bit more...
Feel free to ask anything, anytime you want zeke ;)
The 3rd one kinda looks like it either has a scuff mark across the obv or something was spilled on the coin.
I do indeed
Well, if there is a depression there then maybe I am correct.
A house quarter - for use in a bar. I like the red ones better ;)
It's the second coin I am talking about. This is a good example of how deceiving pics can be. In the second pic, it just looks like a brown spot....
The big hole right in the middle of his head. Kinda looks like a dinosaur footprint. Like I said, I'm betting it's a strike through.
