How did I know you would chime in on this one, Thanks @physics-fan3.14
You can't deny that in this case the reverse letters are the main factor in the attribution. This is a damaged coin every way you look at it.
I am serious it looks like a 1945.
Why would you even try? Might as well pull out the 45 and put it out of it's misery.
I doubt that it is a lamination. Seems like it could be a die chip though. These photos really don't help.
@cpm9ball Makes you wonder, Yet, I can't imagine that Fivas and Stanton could fit every die variety in the book. Therewould probably be 3 books...
Same here. Filled die on the 80 something. But the last one is altered after it left the mint.
It is in the 6th edition cross reference. I forgot the cross reference was there. [ATTACH]
Here is another of the 74D. It is unfortunate that these had been abraded they aren't as neat to look at as the un abraded die state....
Do you have all the early volumes of CPG? I know that some of the FS references are left out as they are not likely to be found.
This damage did not happen at the mint, It is altered whether you want to believe it or not.
No, I think you did fine with attributing it.
Was it the nickels and dimes that were NIFC that year?
The 6th edition doesn't even have it. It is on Variety Vista.
I am leaning towards staple scratch. Although the photos aren't clear enough to be sure.
And that's all it takes to start a bidding war. It is a beautiful piece.
The wheat and 72's aer pretty much spenders in that condition.
Isn't that perty. With the gold where it is right now. I see a light price on that coin. If it goes moon price I will be surprised....
Separate names with a comma.
