Yup, struck on a delaminating planchet. I suspect the planchet delaminated in some areas before strike, and the coin delaminated in other areas...

Just use a larger ferritic magnet.
A ferritic magnet is much less expensive, saves the neodymium for more critical applications, and meets the same need.
