I think you made a good choice. I try to back away from anything I question. There are too many problem free coins out there.

Mercury will turn cents a silver color. I did this as a kid. Today we know that playing with mercury is a really bad idea.

They made them in silver and in nickel. You probably have the type made with nickel. 17.9mm. It's .75 copper with .25 nickel.
