I used to get in trouble every time I went to the window. It's probably good they are so picky. I have never had one go missing or be messed with.
I always liked the looks of VF/EF with silver. It was a bit easier to end up with a well matched set.

The date looks like it's on the dime to me. The RPD made the 184 a bit fat. That makes the 5 look thin and stand out.

It's been cleaned and has an odd color. The way the image was taken could be part of that. As a normal the coin should be a bit darker. I agree...
To me, it's a really pretty coin. Can't argue with the 66 grade. Nice work on getting the upgrade.
