Even if it was soaked in vinegar it still has some value since it is a key date.
Looks like the whole obverse was covered in it. Those lines look like the lines that I get when I soak my dateless buffs in vinegar.
Finished 4 boxes of nickels. Only 2 boxes had wars but I ended up with 4 over all including a real nice AU 44P....and.....a crappy looking 43D!...

Most likely a grease filled die but without pictures it's hard to tell.
