Quarters suck for silver. Not worth the time/effort. Dimes are quick and easy though.
Stick with dimes. In my experience, they produce more than halves.
Also, I don't see any evidence on the obverse of there being CUDs on the reverse.
My vote is for grease filled die.
Can you get a closer picture? It does look like a grease filled die to me but hard to tell when they are zoomed out.
pics??? ;) Grease filled die: Usually bits of grease, metal, general junk/gunk get in the die and obscure part of the design.
The fact that is on exactly opposite sides and almost the same size makes me think it is solder or something like that. Perhaps to make a pin or...

If you want a definitive answer you will have to get closer clear pictures of both the AM and the FG.
I like the Peace dollar(It's not a Morgan). That being said, it is most likely damaged since it is in that holder.
