Bad news. Paul Cunningham got back with me. He feels the plaque is just something that was put together. Not the real deal. I trust he is correct....
It's just damage. Something hit the coin.

I would save your money. They really don't like these.
I would call it a 66 but feel the services would call it a 65. They don't like woody.

Paul has one shown in his book but the medal is different. Heritage sold one a few months back for $5100. That got me wondering what I had.

Looks like a really well matched set. The holder must have helped it have that look. The 1950 is the money coin.
The plaque is about 28x22 inches. The Lincoln medal is about 6 inches and is mounted into the back of the plaque with screws. Something is not...
They take returns so you don't get stuck with a coin you don't like. That's good but they could do a better job of showing images that show what...
