The top one looks like a third reverse and the second one looks like a second reverse.
Luster will affect the overall grade of the coin but it has nothing to do with wear of the coin. The amount of wear remains the same.

A coin can not wear sitting as you explained but it can easily tone. Any toning is not wear and does not affect the grade.
A wonderful example of a Colonial coin, a New Jersey copper.

Man, shame about that reverse damage but that is a beautiful looking coin. As you said, not an FBL, but who cares? The toning is wonderful.
No it doesn’t but that type of toning makes it difficult, at least for me. I said proof 64 but I’m sure it’s higher.
Only harsh to my eyes. It’s difficult for me to look at the coin. Molted toning does that to me. No offense meant.
