No. That thing has been mangled. Nothing else.
I agree with @paddyman98. Looks like it was struck through something. That was a good chunk of whatever it was. Very cool.
I see these a lot on 1980/1981 cents. Not sure why.
Wouldn’t that take some kind of act of Congress or something? Lord knows they can barely tie their shoes. And then, only in the manner in which...
What about progressive indirect die transfer on the cent? That is what it looks like to me. The rest are clearly damaged....
Those are gouges in the metal. Probably done at the same time whoever scratched the ever loving crap out of the rest of the coin did their hatchet...
FYI, I looked at the picture and the coin is junk. Just damaged. Scratched and damaged. Nothing more.
Or you could post them here...on the forum you are asking questions on...
More ugly Jeffs for you ;)
Nope. Did 2019 for my new son. I refuse to buy any more US mint garbage.
They emailed me and told me I got free shipping and then emailed me a week later saying, no I don’t get free shipping. The mint sucks.
An ugly-as-sin nickel AND they are charging more than last year? It’s like the mint is doing its best to go out of business.
“Alternate truth”
It's one of those 3 you listed and I will give you exactly one guess.

Both are nice but I like the 2nd one with that desert patina. Beautiful coins!
All I see is damage. In what way were you lied to? Unless you bought this as a doubled die.
Just posted over on your other thread. This is a good link for you to start looking: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/gratian/t.html
