Maybe I ran into the one technical grader on staff. :p
MS 67 6fs ....steps are all there and the coin looks remarkably mark-free (as well as lustrous)....it could very well sneak into 68 territory, but...
I think it could sneak into a 66 grade (65 if we are being conservative)
I really don't either. The one coin that I did get the plus on (the 88-O from the prior thread), was nice but this one has better toning. I also...
That is surprising! I was being conservative at 65, so a 64 was not expected at all! Nice find and hopefully CAC agrees that this one deserves the...
Reveal time: This was another of my unfavorable results. It started as a 64 and downgraded to a 63. I needed a fifth coin for my sub and this one...
Clean MS 65 (would not be surprised with a 66)
You can take a look at the PCGS guide for a general idea (of graded examples) although some will be high and others low. At least it will tell you...
Reveal at some point this evening.
@jtlee321 @Morgandude11 @KSorbo
Last but not least we have coin five. It used to be a relatively new PCGS holder (without a TrueView) and is now in an even newer PCGS holder....
And for the reveal... this one was a bit of a surprise. It started as a 64 and upgraded to 64+....my first ever plus grade! Being a New Orleans...
Where are all the guessers? Thumbs up for those of you that commented already! :) @Morgandude11 @KSorbo ...I'll let this one go for a while longer
Let's see some more guesses before the reveal. :)
They shouldn't be grading then. A grader should neither like nor dislike any coin that they are evaluating.
We make our way to coin four. It used to be a slightly older (blue label) PCGS and is now in a new PCGS holder. Please guess the grade from each...
This was a win. The coin started as an NGC MS 61 (no star) and upgraded to PCGS MS 63. A two point bump! I think the 61 might have been a bit low....
Reveal soon; any other guesses beforehand?
If it was blast white, I could see a 62 but for a toned coin with market grading, the 62 was puzzling.
You are right that this type of color shows up more on those common date New Orleans coins as opposed to the earlier San Francisco. I think it...
