I dont believe that a mint employee goes thru the working dies with a loupe to see if it is doubled. The DD is usually caught after the striking...
I could be wrong, but, I believe that DD happens in the Working hub process.

I always had a hard time figuring this out myself. Pictures are great but having one in hand, it is a lot easier to discern.
