I scratched my head about this as well. Abe's face is quite sharp in the fragment. Maybe this is what the graders look at when assigning MS65.

Agree to above. Chinese characters on both sides, so either Chinese or Japanese (Kanji).
It should be a charm coin, not currency. The characters used on both sides are for good wishes.
