I have since found 4 more 1964 D just as the 2 above.
Looking at more 1964 D LMC's I am now leaning towards die crack/chip. Here are two more with the same condition. [ATTACH] [ATTACH]
May be rim to rim. It comes out the bottom of the memorial on the left. Nice find.
Thanks for all the comments. I think what I am seeing now is an over-polished die. It looks like much of the front of the coat has been removed....
Perhaps there is a tendency for die chips right there.
