The boundary between cleaning and restoration is small among the purist. Different metals propose different techniques.

The bright white and MS coins are the only ones I would venture with and that depends on the coin.
Unfortunately, not much can be done. A rinse in acetone is harmless to nearly all coin metals, and it would remove possible (new) fingerprints....
