You can damage the slab with a Dremel. Many just hand polish using a plastic polish like Meguiar's PlasticX. You can get it at the auto store.
You have control over what notifications you receive. It's in your settings.
I like the @ thingy. Great tool. Beats the heck out of sending a PM. I would try acetone and stop there. It helps sometimes but not very often...
