I would think the die would have smashed it flat into the surface of the coin. Maybe a die gouge?

It's too pretty to crack and put into a Dansco. It will turn full brown and loose most of the color. Save it and buy something raw that matches...
I have a hard time calling these real without seeing some signs of the Blakesly Effect. I'm seeing something on the reverse.
I would like to see a full image of the obverse.

Jim, would a specific gravity test work? I'll guess the difference is too small to help.
I have never bought from the Franklin Mint but they have made some really cool looking stuff. The prices were always too much for me.
