Finding an IHC in circulation is rare enough. Finding an XF/AU details example? Priceless!
It eventually loses strength. Also, it gets loaded up with nickel acetate, which is somewhat toxic; flush it down the toilet so it gets diluted....
Nah, yours was shorter, and shorter is better. It's just that "short" doesn't come naturally to me.
You've got it exactly right. The serial numbers are dark against a lighter background. The second 0 has a lighter background inside and darker...
I think that's actually more of a tic than a hobby. ;)
This never occurred to me. I'm not sure that reverse design is meant to be a crescent moon, but now I'll have a hard time seeing it as anything else!
Here's a page seeming to indicate that the UHRs were 4mm thick. The 2009 issue was also 4mm thick.

There have been more than a few threads here about date restoration. Something about the striking process for nickels makes it work really well on...
It's a compelling thought. Smell is such a powerful prompt, and we still can't properly record or replay them, much less Google-search on them....
Same one I use. Try the mirror trick for alignment and stop it down to F/11. You'll probably also want to investigate "mirror lockup", and use...
You're just reminding me how much I miss @Electron John and his images...
Almost certainly "microns", thousandths of a millimeter -- although 5.1mm seems really deep, even on a large medal?
Yep. There are some EOS lenses ("EF-S") that will only work on the small-sensor cameras like the Rebel series; others will work on both crop and...
Sorta. A pinhole camera is like stopping your lens way down, like to f/100 or higher. The narrower the aperture, the less effect the lens has;...
