never quite seen the like, but I would probably think it a grease strike to cause the ripples like that
metal looks "smeared" so I have to say damage
I have a few "details" coins in my type set, Primary reason is admitedly "cost" I'd rather have a beautiful AU "details" coin in the set over say...
I've got a half-dime on the lose myself... pretty sure it's hiding between 2 floor boards and I'm too cheap to rip em up to find it lol

That's one of the things I love about a "date" set... it lets me avoid some of the worst "hard to finds" I settled for a nice 84o in the date set...
I admit you are probably right on the 94o, but in hand I thinking it's about 50/50 on the cleaned and even if it does come back "details" was...
XF is what i'm "expecting" on the LC AU of course is what I'm hoping for lol
