    Looks to me like someone was experimenting with toning methods. I once baked one in a potato and it came out kind of like this one.

    GTG 1942-D Jefferson Nickel (PCGS)

    I voted MS66 not FS on this one. This coin is not as clean as the '38D but still a very nice one!
