In my book the value of an item is not determined by what the seller paid for it. Why should I overpay just because the seller overpaid?
We are not born with that knowledge. I like to store information like that away so I can use it later. A clue like this one can be VERY helpful....

Pretty much worthless. They are gold plated. The amount of gold plating is exceeding small and essentially not worth anything.
I can think of any number of hobbies and pastimes that are a much bigger waste of time - and money - than collecting coins.
