I think what you underestimate is the number of people who buy multiple sets when it comes to proof sets and in so doing, overestimate the number...
I think that the reason has less to do with the product, and more to do with the sellers. This is a Mint Set. Less than 350,000 sets sold last...

I have always wanted to attend the FUN Show. After this thread, it's on my bucket list.
He's been pushing it for years. The hobby just isn't buying it as the current system works just fine.
You may remove the spots, but the surface underneath will not match the rest of the coin. You'll trade in white spots for different colored spots.
