Yes, it is possible, I think Chris is right. There is also evidence of die deterioration on the date.
Good conclusion, I think it is what Treashunt says, MD or mechanical doubling,. It doesn't look like either Doubled Die posted above.

So, I bought it. And the forgers, used a VAM3a for the coin, I don't think that they fully copied the die, but, it was fashioned after it, this...
The thing is he knows I want to add a nice piece, to my collection. The shop has a lot of damaged goods, except for these, and he knows it.
An 81S MS63 no chance at PL for 190, that's just one, the others, they carry a little of a toning premium, but not worth what he is asking.
I have had a few in my sights, but the dealer wont let up on his premium, they have been sitting there for almost a decade.
