I see what you are talking about but your imagination is very vivid. It's not a mintmark, D or otherwise. It's a circulated nickel that took a hit.

Paddy, I still see 4 $20's, each with different numbers. The first one is a star note followed by the last letter of B, D and C.
I tell what I see. Sometimes the op doesn't like what I see. Other times, they do. It all depends on your coin.
That's a good haul from a car wash.
It has no mintmark so it was minted in Philadelphia.
