88, 04 and 06 have doubled ears also.
The area is too remote to be a clash. I don't see any evidence on the rest of the coin. That is too strong to not show on either side of the leaf...
Google is your friend, I am not sure if they were made in silver or if they were made in clad. Should be easy to find.
There are other hints on top of the leaf's that say this is a die chip. A clash wouldn't be raised from the surface of the coin.

That one is very nice Doug. That's a clash with a 1857 Seated Liberty Half. The area you see is lady Liberty's right arm.
Your photos show a polished coin, color isn't the problem loss of all it's luster is. All polished coins have a deep red just like your shows.
