If you don't know, the test is to put a kleenex tissue over the coin. If it looks white through the tissue, it is silver.

By slabbing the coin, the grading services at least guarantee their authenticity. May be worth something.
Obviously you should submit this coin to a grading service for authentication and evaluation. This should settle your mind.
