68' is known for being well struck. A re engraved die? Or reworked? Either way not a bad coin for a circ find.

That for me is all about contrast and sharpness. I would use a tube or an extender. Lighting a coin has no certain standards. You are the author.

I see the 66 reverse. The contact on the steps jump out. Still can't see the 65. Might as well crack that one out. :)

Interesting, I gave the heavy gouge on the jaw the benefit of doubt. That is a heavy mark. i thought the luster and originality made up for it....
I see now that you pointed it out. That's the difference between a phone and laptop for me.
I think someone used a coin stretcher on those.
Only cause you guessed PCGS. Lol. Honestly, i could barely make out the weak upper lines. But guessed that the TPG didn't put a loupe on it.
Look to the die markers, die scratches, polishing lines etc. @messydesk has nailed this one down Already. In this VAM I looked at what I saw...
