Acid treated and the edge looks split because the copper dissolved more quickly than the nickel, is my guess.
It's not an RPM either. Here is my 70 S LD RPM in original mint packaging that a wise CTer told me is fairly common in the mint sets.[ATTACH]
We are not worried about the loss of silver in the acid test, but the damage to the coin from the acid and the rub you mention...takes a undamaged...
