I use a regular canvas notebook binder. Never had any problems.
It does look dull but the toning is nice. It was either the storage of the coin or the coin was exposed to something prior to your adding it to...
That coin is so beat up it looks like a cast copy. The rim is all I can see on the obverse and that was from a worn out tired die.
If you have one of these in your collection, you can’t go wrong. :)

It’s plated. Not missing the clad layer. Not an annealing issue. Just plated.

It’s not considered a mint error. It’s called a packaging error. Worth a little extra to a collector of sorts but I’d just keep it for the novelty...
It must be missing somewhere in your house. You probably hid it and forgot where. No worth stressing over. One day it will show up and you be full...
