MEK is pretty much the same as acetone. MEK is Methyl Ethyl Ketone and acetone is Dimethyl Ketone. If you got it and it is pure, use it.

Does it have luster or is it shiny? There is a difference. Examine it with a 5 or 10 X glass in sunlight as you tilt it and I bet you see LOTS...
