Look at the obverse of the coin. See all the indentations along the rim? This coin clearly has seen a beating.... Dont get me wrong, I understand...
Corrosion has that affect.... salt put down in said parking lot? Exposed to something perhaps? An acid for example?
More likely it was dropped in a parking lot and got driven over or something that caused the rapid wear.
