I don't think the same principle applies, as the digit was never fully struck on this coin, unlike a buffalo nickel where the dateless ones are...
Likely a grease-filled die, try looking at it with light at different angles...I find that sometimes helps in determining the digit.
I'm seeing what may be splits on the U of trust, but I'm not sure...
The anomalies look incuse to me, but if jello is sure they are raised, then I am really unsure of what to make of the coin...
