Hi guys. Just got this one off of ebay today. I'll post some more pics when I get it in hand. What do you think it grades? I personally would...
??
Welcome. It looks like you have a die clash error. They were certainly common in the early 80s. Not worth very much IMO, but still a cool find....
Ok, but It's not like die attributors are taking images of coins under 400-500x magnification?
Rick, here is an image of pollen (which is by itself nearly microscopic), under 500x magnification....
Rick, what are you talking about? All someone needs is a 10x-15x loupe to spot most doubled dies and RPMs. At 500x you are at the microscopic level...
Agreed that now seeing the reverse, it looks like slmething that was done post-mint...though it still appears quite unusual.
Seriously? Now you're just hijacking the OP with your own coin. Stop soliciting the opinions of others for your own (repeatedly posted) coins in...
So first it's improper annealing, then it is struck into the coin, now it's struck one million times, causing the nickel to turn into copper?...
Well I'm certainly not an expert on Morgans, but from what I can see a lot of those coins certainly don't look right...
I don't get what you mean. If I put a coin overlapping LIBERTY so that a mirrored IN GOD WE TRUST occurs in the same area, wouldn't that destroy...
But if it were a hammer job, how would LIBERTY still be as intact as it is? I don't get it. It's almost as if the coin were struck after the...
That certainly looks unusual, as LIBERTY is intact but the anomaly is a mirror image. It looks like a partial brockage, though if that were the...
The coin you attached is not an error. You shouldn't be spreading misinformation like that, especially to new members.
Ah, I understand. Your original post was the email he sent you. Interesting he says he is not convinced it is a working die TDO...I certainly...
Can someone please shut this thread down? The OP is taking none of our advice and now bumping the thread with unrelated coins and increasingly...
Wait, was the coin attributed already? The guy said he'd look at it but that was the last post from him I saw. Is it up in a listing somewhere?
Seeing how E pluribus unum and other details of the reverse appear intact, I don't think the culprit is a hammer job. To my eyes it appears to be...
Looks normal to me, too. I don't think it's 013...sorry. :(
Could you post the date of your coin so we could determine if it is die 13? You may have a different die state.
