RIP David
It’s just a silver war nickel with damage added. Not a D near Liberty. It looks like a D but it’s nothing more than a pot hole shaped like a D.
There is no rush. There are no points for hurrying. Take your time and enjoy. :)
It depended on the date and mint mark and of course, when and where I bought them. I’ve had them for many years, well over twenty. Some were in...
I said MS-65 DMPL but I was on the border of a 64. Just a few scrapes to many but it has such nice eye appeal I went the higher grade.
I have so many incomplete planchets it has to be a nice one to get me to buy it. I did just pick up a nice one last month but I’ll do my own...
On the reverse you can see a small amount of displaced metal.
There’s no room or slot in my folder for it so I don’t want it.
It’s a large date but it’s sure a nice one, especially after 62 years. :)
Definitely damaged
I only need 6 more to have them all in MS-64 FBL by PCGS. It’s taken several years but I keep looking for nice ones like this one.
Yes. The bell lines worn fast so finding FBL’s isn’t easy, especially with some dates and mint marks.
The 1982 was definitely damaged after it left the mint. The 1969-D looks normal to me.
I would have bought that one without any hesitation. Very sweet coin.
She is a beauty!

Nice, please post photos when you receive it. They are a series that can be easily completed.
Here’s another one of my PCGS MS-64 Franklin Halves. When am I going to pick up the last 6 that I need. They all need to look and be graded like...
The Denver Mint does have better quality control than the other mints.
I have rolls of them but they are P mint marks. Glad you got one.
