I suppose no one has to eat crow here. I'm not gonna clean it. And for all those who said the coin was ruined to begin with... all they had to...
I let it sit in acetone for 30 mins and I'm done. Off to grading she goes.
I Agree. AU50
Here's the coin in-hand. It was mailed to me in an old paper Whitman flip. Good Lordy, what a coin! [ATTACH]
FS-104 DDO (not the bold one, but the rarest of the die pairings). Currently at PCGS. [ATTACH]
I was looking for this video. Thanks. Crazy rich guys!!! This is also funny to me because I have seen an 1805 MS63 NGC draped bust dime for sale...
I'm not going to try a bunch of different things. One maybe two. But we'll see when I get it in hand in a few days.
Fingers crossed!
SuperDave is mad and disappointed in me.
Thanks. "Slow and low... that is the tempo."
Hahaha! If you consider this a cull or hole filler, then you have just lost all credibility. Wow. But thanks for the rest of your post, I suppose.
Hey Chris, I "guarantee" I make money on this coin.
I ponied up $225 for it. So XF45 retail, without a premium for the variety.
Yes. Now how to "preserve" this one.... hmm.
If I decide to attempt it after studying it in hand, then yes, I take responsibility for whatever happens. I didn't start the thread to find...
Yeah, I bought it unattributed but knew what it was, which is why I had to have it. I once sold one in AU53 for $1100.
I understand. As far as the lighter areas, I assumed those were the high points showing minor circulation.
Is the coin already "dead?" That's what I want to know. And if so, how much more could I kill it, I wonder. Maybe I'll do nothing if it's turned...
I just read an old thread about this, and I don't think I'll try it with this coin.
Absolutely genuine. O-116 50/00 variety.
