I don't enjoy selling at coin shows. Something about having 30 dealers poo-poo my coins just puts a damper on the whole experience.
Who knows? The rainbow toning could have made it a $500 coin.

Yeah, except if I sold it, the cert number would never match the condition... I paid $40 for the coin, plus the economy fee.
The girl at customer service audibly groaned when I told her the problem. Online the cert number says XF details, damage. But the coin arrived...
Not to mention a 1921 with better than average strike in the hair/central areas!
I would buy a coin that looks like that. I would NOT buy it if it were cleaned to be blast white.

Pretty. I agree with the grade of 55/58. The rim scratch is barely worth noting, but I agree that's not a natural color for 150+ year old copper.

Unfortunately it's worth melt plus a little historical value. In the current market, $22.
In the obverse, look at the cheek and face first. See how the original skin and luster is completely removed? It almost looks like a clay...

I can't say with 100% certainty, but based in the pics he provided, I can detect polishing. As with any coin, seeing it in hand could change my mind.
