Really?hmm I get confused between them sometimes when there this small and I usually don't see them on nickels.

Never heard of it but I'm assuming its a type of NAV doubling but from over 100 years ago due to a worn die strike?
Also notice there appears to be a die crack starting at the bust point and ending at the diamonds
