Yeah. Basically everyone loves AU58 grades, and those are almost always more attractive than MS60-62 coins, so it became "a thing."
The SLQ sold within an hour for $575. CRAZY!
As long as there isn't another problem with the coin, such as cleaning, they supposedly straight grade them because "it's a part of their history."
Yeah, one well hidden chop and a great white, lustrous look. I had seen problem free chopped coins before, but never found and submitted one...
Interestingly, I did have one coin that I think they over graded. A 1859-S Seated Half Dollar. I had it at VF35 or XF40 and they gave it an XF45....
