People cleaned their coins in the old days before it was known to be damage. Coins get filthy, and they are proud of them and want to show them...
The I with the broken serif sounds like an accented hair variety. (Proof only.) But you will be told to start your own thread with photos instead...
I think they both look like S's. The 76-S proof clad is lower mintage than the 76-S 40% silver, but the silver is worth more. Difficult to see but...
It's just crud. That's the scientific term.
When the day comes and they take their coin to a shop and are only offered less than melt, then they will know they were taken.
Please grade the coin on your own. Ahahaha. There is no grade.
It's too bad because 1876 is a very good coin. The damage hurts the value.
The obverse is worn, but old low mintage silver used to get a little slack. So I was taking that in to account. The reverse is much better than G-06
IDK what that green stuff is, but acetone won't hurt it. Nice coin, low mintage. The reverse is nicer than the obverse. I am around VG-10/F-15...
Nice bracelet. Yes at the storage someone just threw out a jar of pennies. I think the most I have ever found is 97. But I usually have around 40...

How much palladium is in a catalytic converter?
You can't acid etch it in case it turns out to be good. Try a very bright light and a strong loupe and tilt it around.
OK I see. Thank you. As for palladium, wasn't it teetering on $1000 not too long ago? And now it is $1400. Is there that much use for it...
1000 miles a gallon seems high.
IDK something looks like it's there. Genuine example. OP photo. [ATTACH] [ATTACH]
And, if prices are low now, and I think they are, if this coin becomes hot again and prices go up, it should be a nice increase in 2-3 years.
Those circulated steelies are very susceptible to corrosion. If that color is true, this coin appears to have been cleaned. The missing 4 is...
Just remember that Proof is not a grade. It is a method of manufacture. A proof coin can be any grade. Yes most are high grades, but not all....
