Well I like the reverse, but the speckled look on the obverse is not my cup of tea. The reverse just seems a nice even toning across the coin.
I would find a nice sturdy envelope for them and leave them in the original packaging.
This is one of the reasons why I like to use paypal. First because I am more worried about a honest mistake with a member - letter gets lost, etc....
I would say AU53 on the 1857 and would have said AU58 on the original coin.
How about a close-up - cause from this angle it does remind me of Durante. :)

I agree with that - with one exception, the toning should not hide the luster on the coin. Gotta see the luster - so some really dark toning...
