I agree... it's a cast reproduction. The pitted surface and mushy details are a clear indicator.
I agree... the coin probably got damaged by the crimping machine... this could have exposed some of the zinc under the copper and it could have...
These coins are still collected and since the announcement that they are no longer going to holder them they still bring a decent amount of money.

Did NCS take the corrosion off the reverse of this coin? It appeared to have some corrosion at around 11 on the reverse.
