The 1969 Canadian quarter is 100% nickel. Some of the 1968's contained .500 silver .500 copper or 100% nickel. By 1969 it was all nickel.
Nope. I thought you meant the other left:D. That's a struck thru thread/wire(?) that Abe mentioned as well.
Below the left wing are light surface scratches. Barely noticeable unless it catches the light. Here's a close up of the obverse. Same effect ....
I think the cause is worn dies. I have a few coins that have the same effect. Most of them are foreign coins.
Cool! I use the eyepiece of an old video camera the same way.
Great pics! What are you using for your close-ups?
1858D Lincoln Cent Gouges .... had me excited there for a sec! Looks like die gouges but I'm not sure. I've never come across those before.
Good eye, Abe! Yes, that's exactly what it is.
Nice find! 4 feet down? Are you using a backhoe?
Do it!!!
I was going through a previously searched BU roll of 1967 Canadian Centennial cents (wish the guy had worn gloves) when I found one of the coins...
Unfortunately it has to be stored in my gallery's vault with my paintings where it temp and humidity controlled. It's too big for my sdb. I'd like...
Same sheet. Actually, I posted it in the wrong section originally, asked to have it moved, reposted it myself, then the original one got moved.
Glad it arrived safely!
Yep, robins. It be cool to have the whole bird series, but that would get a little pricey. I'd rather get a U.S. one and maybe a Euro one instead.
Foreign? It's not foreign, it's Canadian!:D
My dealer dropped this off today. I'd like to get a few of these in different denominations and some from other countries. [IMG]
This is a 1946 Canadian cent. At the nine o'clock position on the reverse has some damage. I can't determine whether it's post mint damage or...
I guessed.:smile
