Hi Connor1, that's something I've never seen before-- AU53 DMPL! Are you a member of the CU forum (PCGS)? There are some serious Trade Dollar...
That's a very interesting piece, and something you sure don't see every day!
Welcome! I like your sense of humor, and look forward to your posts.
I agree that the trime is rather dark. I like coins with dark toning in the periphery, if the central devices stand out in contrast, but even that...
thanks for the comments, folks. Rusty, I'm going to have to buy some better "type" Barbers: my dime and quarter are both bright from dipping--...
It has great luster. The little dark spot above the eagle's head isn't too noticeable in hand, but in the photo it looks like tar.

I thought a Fine grade appropriate, mainly because the cap is very worn, the lock of hair on the neck blends into the neck, and the drapery around...
I'm queasy about the look of the surfaces, and the rims. Checking weights and having a good look at the edge reeding is advisable.
For my photos, I just crop them with the free "Paintsho PRo" that came with the pc. then I save them in my coins file. Next I open my photobucket...
The Carson City dollars are in holders from the GSA, and as such they are quite collectible. Keep them in the holders with all the paperwork intact.
According to Bowers, some of the 77-s issue have PL surfaces, especially on the obverse. And, I have never seen a Trade dollar in a holder...
I think it's a Fine. Very nice looking, original coin with great patina- nice purchase!
I would be very wary of early dollars raw, unless from a well established seller with impeccable references. fakes abound.
Is it in an ANACS "problem free" holder? The reason I ask it that I can see a sort of "halo" of frost around the devices which suggests to me...
