I do not own the following coin, which is a 1980-D PCGS AU50 Jefferson Nickel. [IMG]
Because you are giving it help!
It doesn't matter what you have done to the coin, I am not going to change my mind to have the term "terminal toning" to include light russet...
How ironic!
Please stop it! "the instinct to create terminal toning" Wth is that supposed to mean. Terminal toning is black, not light russet. And this is...
Okay, first things first, a little russet toning in NOT terminal. As for the toning pattern/color scheme and its market acceptability, I think...
I'm going MS65, hoping the last two sets of photos are more representative.
What is the saturation level of those photos? I abstain on the grounds that I don’t have photos that accurately represent the actual appearance...
I don't have a problem with it as an MS67 either, but it is definitely low end for the grade, especially considering that it is a 44-D....

MS63, pure guess though as I have never collected this series.

The results from Cointalk are as follows: MS64: 3 MS65: 12 MS66: 6 MS67: 0 And here is NGC's grade from an NGC 5 Holder (1992-1997). [IMG]...
That is still a full step Nickel. PCGS would give it the FS designation as they only require 5 steps and NGC would give it 5FS as opposed to 6FS....
Shrews, here is the Jefferson twin to your Botantic Garden dollar. [IMG]
