I believe you. I did take a browse of Wexler's listings and see that there are a number of die stages on record (for the 003 especially). More...
I think that LIBERTY looks like the 003, but the TRUST looks like the 006. I would think that the die gouge on the rim by the D in GOD (006)...
Here is the VV listing for the profile doubling: http://varietyvista.com/04a%20JN%20DD%20Vol%201/1938PDDO008.htm
Photos are a little out of focus but have a look at DDO 004 here: https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/view/336 Try to match the markers....
Try 006. Hers a link: http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1972&die_id=1972p1do006&die_state=eds Nice find!
Few get rich, James, but as long as we are having fun, we'll keep search our change.
You're headed for the funny farm...we'll see you when you get here!! Keep in mind that your learning curve is different than another's. Just...
That's correct. Collecting varieties in different die states is 'a thing'. I have the 2004P DDO in stages B, C, and D. Not A, oddly enough....
It might be a minor DDR that isn't listed yet. Or die wash. Hang onto it and wait a while to see if it is ever listed. Only costs you a dime.
I think you've got it right; deterioration. The flow lines are heavy and the devices are misshapen and thicker/thinner. It gets pretty difficult...
Your estimate seems pretty good Gary (30 hours). I would do a box in about 2 weeks putting in a couple hours a day. I don't mind the process...
Hooray!! 1943D...my nemesis coin for a long time as well. I think that I've only ever found 2 or 3 during all my CRH events. It's a tough find...
The wonderful thing is that it is up to you; no approval from any of us is needed...not that you were asking. No penalties if a person variety...
Yes, vinegar is acid. When folks use ‘strong’ acid you’ll get the wavy look you won’t get with vinegar or Coke. I should have been clearer....
I see 4 DDO varieties and 3 RPM varieties at Coppercoins but nothing matches your coin. VV May have others and maybe Wexler’s.
Yes. I used to do that to but it morphed into that plus looking for doubling traits. This is necessary if you are looking for a discovery piece....
Pickled in vinegar is my guess. Acid would make it look wavy and perhaps not as pitted.
I’m thinking of the 1960D SD over LD DDO with RPM. It doesn’t happen where two types of doubling occur on the same coin. I don’t think there is...
I have 2-3 myself but I learned a tough lesson early on in my Variety hunting career. I had a 1995-1DO-002 in my hand only I didn’t really know...
This is a bridge for those that must suffer through a night of anticipation. This was a box from a few years back: [ATTACH]
