A new design is long overdue. Not only for the Quarter Dollar, but for the Cent, Five Cents, Dime, and Half Dollar.

Them wanting to do so and authorizing legislation are two entirely different things. The law must happen for the series to be extended.
There are no distinguishing characteristics on any of these coins, except the SMS coins, which IIRC, were all struck at San Francisco Assay Office
