I'm still inexperienced, but it kinda does look more like casting bubles (around the cheek and behind the eye) rather than pitting.

I wrap the foil on tight and press it with my thumb to help see more detail on dark or patchy coins or ones with little detail.

Definately not :) I like alot of the drachms (one with Helios) from Rhodes. Some are also very ugly IMO, but alot are very beutiful.

I'm pretty sketchy with countermarks too. I've found a few similar ones on vcoins (with weak or missing prongs) some listed it being a CM from Cyprus.
